Aims and Scope
ADVANCED CARBON is an international journal that provides a forum to publish peer-reviewed original research articles on the manufacturing, synthesis, characterization, physical and chemical properties, and modeling of carbon materials including graphene, nanotubes, fullerenes, hierarchical graphene and nanotube architectures, diamond, diamond-like carbon, carbynes, carbon fibers, amorphous carbon, activated carbons and their composites, which provide emerging new materials for a wide range of device applications in energy storage and conversion, biochemical sensing, nanoelectronics, nano-optics, optoelectronics, aerospace, drug delivery and regenerative medicine. Special emphasis is on recent breakthroughs and challenges in the design of carbon materials including multi-scale building blocks comprising graphene nanostructures and carbon nanotubes, and nanocarbon composites that facilitate new technological innovations at the interface of materials science, engineering, and biology. The journal publishes full research articles, review articles with author's photo and biography as well as rapid communications on new scientific findings dealing with carbon-based materials connected with all disciplines of science, engineering and medicine. The peer-reviewed proceedings of scientific meetings, symposia and workshops on carbon materials are also published.

RESEARCH TOPICS COVERED (but not limited to):
ADVANCED CARBON publishes high quality experimental and theoretical research focused on all aspects of carbon materials including carbon nanotubes, fullerenes, diamond, diamond-like carbon, graphene, graphite, amorphous carbon, carbon-based nanomaterials, carbon-based composites, and their based all types of materials. The research topics include production, synthesis, chemical modification, electrochemistry, and functionalization, growth, processing, purification, fabrication, spectroscopic characterization, doping, electrical, optical, field emission, thermal, chemical, physical, biological, mechanical and tribological properties, spin transport, defects, quantum mechanics, computational approaches, modeling and all types of device applications in electronics, photonics, optics, energy, catalysis, biomedicine, environmental impact and toxicity.
